Deirdre O’Kane is an acclaimed Irish stand-up comedian, actress and television presenter known for her sharp wit, versatile performances and warm stage presence. Originally from Drogheda, County Louth, O’Kane began her career in comedy in the 1990s and quickly became a prominent figure in the Irish and UK comedy scenes. Her humour often explores themes of Irish culture, family life and personal anecdotes, earning her a loyal fan base and critical praise. O’Kane’s talents extend beyond stand-up; she’s an accomplished actress with notable roles in film and television. She received widespread ac- claim for her portrayal of humanitarian Christina Noble in Noble (2014), a performance that garnered her the Best Actress award at the Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs). She also starred in the beloved Irish comedy series Moone Boy, created by Chris O’Dowd. In addition to her on-screen work, O’Kane has hosted the Irish Film and Television Academy Awards and fronted Deirdre O’Kane Talks Funny, a comedy talk show that showcases Irish comedic talent. This year, her extraordinarily suc- cessful tour O’Kaning It is now set to run right through until May 2025 with new dates continually being added. Meanwhile, her podcast, Keep It Tight with fellow come- dian Emma Doran has won her a whole new legion of fans.
