Heidi Davis is a dynamic scientist-entrepreneur whose mission lies at the nexus of women’s health, technology, and prevention. As co-founder and CEO of Peri (also known as identifyHer), she leads the design and launch of an AI-enabled wearable device aimed at empowering women in the perimenopausal and menopausal transition – a historically underserved stage of life.
Davis gained a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition at University College Dublin, followed by an MSc in Molecular Medicine in 2017 at Trinity College Dublin. Soon after graduating, she took part in the UCSF Innovation Ventures programme, equipping her with commercial and innovation skills. Throughout this pivotal time, her interest in chronic disease prevention and the translation of molecular science to real-world health solutions took root in earnest, and Davis developed her acumen further in roles in health-tech and nutraceuticals. She worked at Nuritas Inc., leading a direct-to-consumer project focused on muscle health, leveraging AI and genomics. She co-founded a menu-analysis startup (Calculate My Menu Ltd) and served as a research assistant on the DEXLIFE project, exploring biomarkers for diabetes prevention.
Then, in 2021, Davis co-founded Peri with physiologist Donal O’Gorman. Their vision: plug the data gap in women’s health by translating physiological signals and symptom tracking into meaningful insights for women in perimenopause. Under her leadership, Peri has developed a wearable device to enable women to monitor their symptoms and long-term health risk via AI and personalised action plans.
In recognition of her leadership, Davis was awarded the prestigious Founder of the Year 2024 accolade by Enterprise Ireland in its High-Potential Start-Up (HPSU) Awards. The award acknowledges her commitment to creating a world-class company specialising in women’s health with a global outlook and was selected by her founder peers.
Women’s health has been chronically underserved in research, innovation and technology, and nowhere more so than in women’s mid-life. According to the company, more than 7 million women in the UK and Ireland alone are in menopause at any one time, with many facing what can be preventable increased risks in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis. By spearheading a wearable solution specifically for the perimenopausal and menopausal phases, Davis and Peri are turning real-time symptoms into actionable data and long-term health planning.
Davis’s approach emphasises prevention, early detection, and personalisation – all hallmarks of a modern, woman-centred health strategy. So when, under her guidance, Peri’s wearable tracker debuted at CES 2025, it was deservedly dubbed one of the smartest new wearables at the consumer-tech event. Looking ahead, her leadership promises to shift the narrative of mid-life female health from one of reactive management to proactive, data-informed, lasting empowerment.
