THE FASHION AWARD

Dublin-born designer Robyn Lynch has garnered significant acclaim for her unique approach to menswear. Lynch studied Printed Textiles at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, before specialising in menswear at the University of Westminster. One of the hallmarks of Lynch’s designs is her use of sustainable and high-quality materials and her commitment to ethical production methods. Homeland references in her collections range from Dublin GAA and Irish harp-adorned knitwear to a t-shirt inspired by the Irish Tourist Association posters from the 1930s. The London-based designer doesn’t only put Ireland on the map in a tactile way; her pioneering designs have earned her a growing list of accolades. She was among the 22 recipients chosen by The British Fashion Council for its 2023/2024 NEWGEN programme. The prestigious initiative supports emerging design talent by providing financial grants, showcasing opportunities, and a mentorship programme.
The designer is currently preparing for her exhibition in Now Gallery in London’s Greenwich, after being awarded its 2023 Fashion Commission – an honour previously awarded to designers like Molly Goddard, Matty Bovan, and Nicholas Daley. Opening next month, the exhibition explores what it means to be Irish through her previous collections. It is this ability to blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics has made Lynch a young force to be reckoned with in the industry.
